Dr. Rocco's Bio

Dr. Rocco graduated from Ohio University with a BS degree in chemistry and zoology, going on to earn a Master’s degree in anatomy from The Ohio State University followed by a Medical degree in 1962. He completed a surgical internship at Cleveland Metropolitan Hospital before enlisting for five years of active duty in the United States Air Force. He was named Chief of Outpatient Medical Services at Hahn Air Force Base in Germany, where he served as a General Medical Officer.

He returned to The Ohio State University for residency training in orthopedics under Dr. Paul Curtiss, and served as co-chief resident at Columbus Children’s Hospital 1968 and OSU 1969. Dr. Rocco received Board Certification in Orthopedics in 1974.

After establishing his practice in Newark, Ohio, Dr. Rocco completed a mini-fellowship in total joint replacement at Joint Implant Surgeons as well as an Occupational/Industrial Medicine mini-fellowship at the University of Cincinnati.

With 48 years of experience in medicine, Dr. Rocco now serves as a general orthopedic consultant with emphasis on hip and knee evaluations. He specializes in conservative management approaches to hip and knee arthritis, including fluoroscopy-guided intra-articular hip injections. Dr. Rocco works closely with all members of the OhioHealth Orthopedic Surgeons team, ensuring the expedient evaluation of patients and enhancing the overall patient experience.

Once an accomplished endurance athlete, Dr. Rocco now enjoys more joint-friendly hobbies, such as photography.
